What’s Your Story

Apa Ceritamu?

Seiring dengan berkembangnya masyarakat, metode tradisional,

As society develops and advances, many aspects of older and traditional ways are starting to crumble. Many parts of school fail to prepare our youth for the real world. They say school days are the best years of your life. You rarely hear that about parenting; however, it is very rewarding when you are confident in what you are doing. Sending your children to school is an example of in loco parentis (in the place of a parent).

It defines the legal responsibilities of a person or organization to take on some of the functions and responsibilities of a parent, not as a replacement of the parent. A class being led by one person from anything between 25-40 young individuals, who are batched according to their age, has been the norm for the past couple of centuries. Try telling that to a child who has to wake up early for school every morning to learn a bunch of things that don’t seem as relevant anymore in a changing world where all the information they need is generated easily at their fingertips.

Yelling at your kids that they must complete homework, study, get a good job, and behave for their teacher are bygone days in many parts of the world but not everywhere. The changes that are taking place lately in society are impacting children’s development. Education with technological advances and input from social media are overwhelming. People are forgetting to see that “Your mind will give back to you exactly what you put into it” — James Joyce. The screen is now starting to replace paper and people. The argument for physical and mental wellbeing is greater than ever. Unfortunately, we look at all of these activities as if they are separate and compartmentalized.

At present, many schools and teachers are left picking up the pieces. Everyone has an IG page or blog telling you what’s the best way to raise your children. The truth is, only you, the parent, hold the key. All the information, advice, strategies, and rhetoric mean nothing if you cannot connect with your child. Deep down, you know YOU need to block out all of the noise, but where do you even start? The exposure to screens is an unprecedented event. New breakthroughs and events are happening so rapidly. Just because you know something does not mean that you understand or apply it. Animo + aims to promote physical and mental wellbeing for families through our 3S strategy – School, Social, and Sport. We ask the questions so you can create the answers that best suit your child and unique situation, encouraging and supporting you to put what you have learned into immediate action.
